Hello everyone! I have been so blessed by all the support I have had here so quickly on Substack. As I kind of discussed in today’s Porch Thoughts - a discussion about some of the background of MAGA (mainly through fundamentalist Christianity) was taking too long to be a Porch Thoughts, and also didn’t really create much room for questions. SO…

I would love to have a volunteer or two to cohost with me. You don’t have to know much about it - you can also cohost if you have questions, and maybe to help me keep track of questions while I host it. I was raised in a GARBC (General Association of Regular Baptist Churches) church, then ended up in other Baptist churches over the years as an adult. Starting in the early 90s, I began being taught things I didn’t remember seeing in my younger days, and homeschooling started being really popular. I didn’t see, like I do now, where all of this was building to. I can even remember being a little confused how things like becoming a theonomy could ever “match” the goals of the Constitution - a government which wasn’t run by a church.

I hope that the live might last a half hour, depending on questions. I will try to verify a few things to make sure that I only share factual stuff. It is all out there, for sure, and you could always find it yourself. I think, though, that it is important to realize that there are people who have been in church their entire lives being taught these principles as part of their belief structure. It is a very rigid patriarchal structure, sold as “complementarianism” (a kind of “separate but equal” for genders), and its ultimate goal is only land-owning males having voting rights.

Part of the reason I want you to know more about this is because some of the crazy will make sense (or at least you will understand why it makes sense to them), and maybe it will make you (hopefully) realize some of them have been indoctrinated into this position their entire lives.

Thank you in advance for your help!
