I have developed a pretty serious problem the past six months:
My clothes are falling off.
Now, granted, most women, even me, love getting closer to a “good” weight (okay, let’s face it, we end up obsessed with the market-based, air-brushed perfection none of us can achieve if we aren’t careful), but, when you have no money left over by the third week of your month, it is a different situation entirely. I can’t even afford a thrift store shopping spree.
The problem became much more obvious when a friend asked me to go to church with her. She was getting rebaptized, and I wanted to be better dressed, and began pulling dresses out of my closet, including my “skinny dresses” from previous dieting.
All of them were sizes too large. All of them. My smallest shorts are too large even, riding down to my hips and hanging to my knees, but at least they don’t fall off.
The healthiest option is to keep doing what I am doing. The most affordable option is to switch my diet back to cheap carbs with a little protein. It will put weight back on me and not cost as much to eat.
But, along with long untreated interstitial cystitis, I have type two diabetes and stage 3a kidney disease. Eating bread and noodles is negligent at best, slow suicide at worst. My diet is veggies, berries and protein, while I keep lecturing myself that I need to exercise more consistently so I can expand my food choices.
Do you know anyone else trying to navigate health and wellness with limited options? Have they been affected by current changes? I would love to talk to them and share their story. Please have them get in touch.
Thanks again for reading and sharing me. If you can, share and subscribe. I’m behind on real estate taxes and scared to death by it. Even a free subscription gets me more visibility.
