As I shared elsewhere, I am a widowed grandmother on social security disability. My income is low enough I qualify for the local food pantry (yes, they check). Maybe I will make enough here to exceed that at some point? If I do, that is awesome. If I don’t, because too many people can’t afford so many substack subscriptions, I get it. The only paid subscription I have is one that was gifted to me!

In the meantime, I think I am going to start by asking here - if you know someone who is already being impacted by DOGE cuts (my food pantry is already having to reduce and ration some of what it shares with me once a month), I would love to interview them, either by email, phone or video chat. I had my visit for the month already, but next month I am going to get contact information from people who will share with me (I have one person in mind; their pharmaceutical copays are $600/month). I might start talking to some of the local homeless, too. I have been shocked to discover so many of them in small town America. What we don’t see if we don’t look.

In the meantime, thank you for reading, and being a little forgiving as I figure this whole platform out.
