I don’t want to sound too virtuous. When I bought the place it had been the potato patch, and was left so terribly bumpy it is painful to mow it. Someone posted a lovely poem, and I wanted to send them flowers.
I already keep a “meadow” lawn, because I grew up in the country, and my childhood lawn included Dutch clover, dandelions, and an absolute carpet of very small white violets in late spring. But I decided this one part behind my house wasn’t mowable, so I planted some wildflower seeds and left it alone. I will throw in some dwarf sunflower seedlings soon…
